Low Traffic Neighbourhood: Video Evidence
Following up on the recent post discussing what Low Traffic Neighbourhoods are, here is a great example of why they are being rolled out across London.
The first clip, taken in June 2019 in Hackney, London, lasts for just 25 seconds, keep an eye on the family trying to cross the road and the cyclists. Should either of these road users have to put up with this?
Now look at the second video, taken in October 2020 when a LTN has been implemented?

If you watched without sound now watch again with sound on.

Drivers using rat-runs greatly worsen the environment for walking and cycling. Watch this family trying to cross a tiny side-road next to a nursery, playground and council housing. #liveableneighbourhoods #cleanair #ratrun pic.twitter.com/wsf4DQqtkX

People can relax now when walking or cycling. They are prioritised over motor traffic. Everyone I spoke to here was enthusiastic about the traffic reduction and said the area had transformed for the better. 2/2
