Electric Scooter Electric Motorbike Electric Moped Savings Calculator
Ever wondered what the fuel saving is for an electric motorbike compared to a petrol motorbike?
To calculated the cost to charge the battery you need to know the cost for the electricity in kWh and the kWh of the battery. You then multiply the figures together.
Example
The Vmoto Stash has a 7.2 kWh battery, a typical electricity rate is £0.25 kWh. This gives a cost of £1.80 to charge the battery.
What's the cost per mile?
Divide the cost to charge the battery by the range. For the Vmoto Stash the range is estimated at 90 miles, this gives a cost per mile of £0.02 (2p).
So how does this compare to a 125cc petrol motorbike?
The average fuel efficiency for a 125cc motorbikebike is 80 miles per gallon (4.54 litres). If fuel costs £1.50 a litre (£6.81 per gallon) then it costs £0.085 (8.5p) per mile - over 4 times the cost of the electric motorbike.
The maintenance costs for an electric bike are also a lot less than a petrol motorbike as there are far fewer parts!
